Frogs Return From New York With Winning Record

Rochester, NY -  The Frogs travelled to Mumford, NY, (just outside Rochester) to participate in the National Silver Ball  Tournament at the Genesee Country Village and Museum.  In their first game, the Frogs showed that the long journey had affected them as they played uninspired defense and lost to the village's Flower City team by a score of 18 to 9.
The Frogs returned to the village green on Saturday afternoon and played much better ball, holding off the Elizabeth Resolutes of New Jersey by a score of 9 to 8.  The evening game found the Frogs matched with the Fair Play BBC of Talbot County, Maryland.  The Frogs led early, but were unable to hold off the Fair Play and instead settled for a tie, 111 to 11.
Irritated by the ending of the late game on Saturday, the Frogs were determined to win their final match and leave with a winning record for the tournament.  Despite a slow start at the plate, the Frogs eventually began to hit and topped the village's Live Oak team 8 to 3.

Frogs  Undefeated on First Day of Mayor's Cup, Winless on Second Day

Upper Sandusky, OH -  The Great Black Swamp Frogs of Sylvania, Ohio, went undefeated on the first day of the Mayor's Cup in Upper Sandusky, Ohio.  The strikers for both sides were ready, as the opening match saw the Frogs and Huntington Champion Hill Toppers (IN) tie at 18 tallies apiece.  Casting a shadow on the first match was the loss of Mark "Goose" Skolnicki, who suffered multiple shoulder fractures while diving for a ball at the third base.
In the Frogs' second match of the day, they topped the host Wyandotte Ghostriders by a score of 13 to 7.  The Frogs finished the day by coming back from an early deficit to down the Mansfield Independents 8 to 5.  By virtue of their undefeated record on Day 1, the Frogs were placed into Pool A on the second day.
The second day saw the Frogs open against the Columbus Capitals.  The Frogs were overmatched early in the game, as fantastic striking by the Capitals led to the Frogs; first loss of the season, 21 to 10.   The second match of the day saw a heavy-hitting Akron Black Stockings squad hammer the Frogs 27 to 7.

Frogs  Prevail at Historic Fort in Season Opener

Detroit, MI -  The Great Black Swamp Frogs of Sylvania, Ohio, opened their 2012 season on Sunday, May 6th, with a win against the Early Risers Base Ball Club at historic Fort Wayne in Detroit.  The two clubs met on the parade ground outside of the fort on a beautiful spring day.  The Frogs fell behind early, as Sylvania's ballists appeared to be distracted by the sight of large ships carrying freight down the Detroit River past the fort.  The denizens of the Black Swamp soon returned their concentration to the match, and surged back with four aces in the third inning and another five in the fifth frame.  The Frogs continued to add tallies in later innings, and withstood numerous charges by their hosts before prevailing by a final score of 14 aces to 10.
The Frogs were led at the striker's line by Jeff "Wrong" Way Rice, who tallied three aces and reached base safely in all five of his trips to the line.  Darius "Hoot" Sarosh also had several big hits, including a home run, while scoring two aces.
